Chris Comparato is Chief Executive Officer of Toast. He has an extensive background in leading high growth SaaS, software, and consulting companies with a focus on customer success and building strong teams. Prior to Toast, he led all customer success functions at Acquia (named Inc. 500 #1 fastest growing company) and Endeca (acquired by Oracle in 2011). He previously held roles at consulting firms Keane and Cambridge Technology Partners, where his track record of delivering innovative business technology to diverse industries started. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Union College.
Steve Fredette is President and co-founder of Toast, where he leads product and innovation initiatives. Prior to Toast, he worked on mobile app development before the iPhone came out, creating the first Flickr and Shoebuy.com apps. At Endeca, now Oracle, he co-founded their mobile commerce business, building the product team and driving sales, marketing, and services to over $10 million in revenue in two years. He also ran the Special Operations team at Endeca, creating new prototypes for various customer and business needs, including Endeca’s business intelligence platform. Steve holds a BS degree from MIT.
Aman Narang is President and co-founder of Toast. Prior to Toast, he worked on innovation initiatives at Endeca, now Oracle. Aman spearheaded the development of Endeca’s business intelligence platform as well as their mobile commerce platform, each of which became major business units. He holds BS and MS degrees in Computer Science from MIT and currently leads innovation and business development initiatives at Toast.
Jonathan Grimm is CTO and co-founder of Toast. Prior to Toast, he held solution engineering and application development leadership roles at Endeca/Oracle, interacting with customers on a day-to-day basis and developing new frameworks for the development team. He now spearheads Toast’s software and technology efforts, focusing on scalable infrastructure and technology architecture. With a passion for startups, he leads initiatives to grow the business from a technology perspective. Jon holds a BS in Computer Science from MIT.
Annie Drapeau leads our People and Culture efforts as Toast's Chief People Officer. She started her career in finance and strategy leadership roles. She has led organizations through rapid growth as Chief People Officer at Digitas, VistaPrint, and Moderna and led both Talent and Corporate Strategy teams at Iron Mountain. Annie also spent time as an Operating Partner at Bain Capital.
Annie serves on the Board of Directors of the Posse Foundation. She has a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering from Bucknell University, where she serves on the Board of Trustees. She also has an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College.
Emmanuelle leads all the post-sale customer-facing functions at Toast as the Senior VP of Customer Success. She sits on the advisory board of four startups and is a frequent industry speaker and blogger. Prior to Toast, she lead Sales & Customer Success at DigitalOcean, scaled Influitive 10x in two years leading Sales, and ran the Global Channel Sales at Sophos. She was also the first hired sales person at Endeca and Vertica and was fortunate to see both through rapid growth and successful acquisitions. She holds a B.S. in Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University and an M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance from New York University’s School of Business.
Jonathan Vassil leads the SMB sales organization as the Vice President of Sales - SMB. He has extensive experience in hyper growth businesses and offers a deep background in SMB sales, operations and marketplace development. He sits on the board of several early stage start-ups and is a business mentor at a leading Baltimore area start-up accelerator. Prior to joining Toast, Jonathan held several sr leadership roles at GolfNow (Comcast), Orderup and Groupon. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland and holds an MBA from The University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
Kevin Hamilton serves as the Senior Vice President of Marketing at Toast. An experienced sales and marketing leader, Kevin most recently served as the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Benefitfocus (NASDAQ: BNFT). Prior to Benefitfocus, Kevin was an early employee at Opower where he served in a variety of sales and marketing leadership roles leading up to the company's successful initial public offering and subsequent acquisition by Oracle. Kevin is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and holds an MBA in Finance from The University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Hugh Scandrett is Senior Vice President of Engineering at Toast. He is responsible for leading the development of Toast products in addition to aiding the company in scaling, strategic growth, and meeting long-term goals. Specializing in enterprise software and SaaS technology, Hugh has created and run engineering teams for both startups and established companies. Scandrett previously worked at EnerNOC, Kronos, and IBM Rational, among others. He holds a B.A. in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario.
Matt Kaplan is SVP of Product at Toast, where he leads product strategy, product management, and design. Matt was recently the SVP of product at Acquia and served as chief product officer and GM at LogMeIn. During Matt’s six-year tenure at LogMeIn, revenue grew more than 800 percent and, following its merger with Citrix’s GoTo business, Matt was appointed GM of emerging growth products. Prior to LogMeIn, Kaplan was integral to driving online product and customer solutions for KnowledgeVision, PermissionTV, AGENCY.COM, AdValue Network, and Cambridge Technology Group. Matt holds a BS degree in Mathematics with Computer Science from MIT.
Nick DeLeonardis is the SVP & GM, Employee Cloud and FinTech at Toast, where he is responsible for leading Payments, Lending, Payroll & Team Management, and other financial services. Prior to his current role, Nick led the development and launch of Toast Capital, which provided access to growth funding to help customers thrive. Nick also led the partnership and eventual acquisition of Stratex, which has evolved into the Employee Cloud business unit. Before coming to Toast, Nick was Senior Vice President of Credit Trading at the Harvard Management Company. Nick is a graduate of Wake Forest University and holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.
Brian Elworthy is General Counsel at Toast, where he is responsible for managing all of the company’s legal affairs. Before joining Toast, he served as Assistant General Counsel at inVentiv Health, a global provider of commercial and clinical solutions to the pharma industry. Brian began his legal career at Ropes & Gray, spending six years practicing in the private equity/M&A groups. Brian earned his JD from Georgetown University and his BA from Middlebury College.
Julisa Salas is the Chief of Staff at Toast, where she is responsible for driving the company's operating system. Prior to her role as Chief of Staff, Julisa established and led the GTM Strategy and Operations department at Toast, which led the GTM team’s efforts across data/funnel optimization, operations, and systems. Before coming to Toast, Julisa worked at J.P. Morgan where she provided financial advice to ultra-high-net-worth individuals. Julisa is a graduate from Middlebury College and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, where she focused on entrepreneurship.
Jen DiRico is the Head of Finance at Toast, where she is responsible for leading the Finance, Business Intelligence, and Accounting teams. Prior to her role as Head of Finance, Jen was Toast’s first Chief of Staff, where she worked closely with the senior leadership team to rebuild and drive Toast's "Operating System" for running the company. Before transitioning to Chief of Staff, Jen established and led the Financial Planning & Analysis Team at Toast. Jen comes to Toast having held various finance and consulting roles in the hospitality and SaaS space. Jen is a graduate of the University of Miami and holds an MBA from Simmons School of Management.
Steve Papa is an experienced founder, investor, and startup mentor. He was the founder and CEO of Endeca, which he sold to Oracle for $1 billion in 2011. Steve has held key roles in redefining technology companies over the last 20 years and has been helping the Toast team from founding as chairman. He has a BSE in Engineering and Economics from Princeton and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Kent Bennett, a Partner in Bessemer's Cambridge office, joined BVP in 2008. At Bessemer Kent has been involved in several investments in the food sector including subscription food concept Blue Apron as well as data infrastructure companies Endeca and Vertica. Before joining Bessemer, Kent wrote and sold original screenplays including a network television pilot and a feature film. He has a BSE in Engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Paul Bell has been Operating Partner at Lead Edge Capital since 2013 where he has worked with portfolio companies including Xamarin, Spredfast and Kapost. Prior to that he was at Dell for 15 years where he served variously as president of the EMEA region, the Americas region, the global Consumer and Small Business unit, and the global Large Enterprise and Public Sector unit. He has an MBA from Yale and BS and BA degrees from Penn State.
David Yuan has invested in four companies that have gone public, eight that have been acquired, and has been recognized by Forbes on its Midas List of the top 100 technology investors. He joined TCV in 2005, and is a General Partner focusing on software, internet, and information services. David is currently a board director or board observer at Avetta, CCC Information Services, Klook, LegalZoom, SiteMinder, and Toast. Other current investments include Act-On, ByteDance, HashiCorp, Modsy, Nubank, Rover, The Pracuj Group, and TripAdvisor. David received an A.B. in Economics from Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
As President and Chief Financial Officer at Salesforce, Mark Hawkins is responsible for leading the company’s global finance organization and is a member of the company’s executive committee reporting directly to the chairman and co-CEO.
Hawkins has more than 30 years of experience with leading finance organizations at global software and technology companies including Autodesk, Logitech, Dell and Hewlett-Packard.
At Autodesk, Hawkins served as CFO and Executive Vice President from 2009 to 2014, leading the global finance, information technology and procurement organizations. From 2006 to 2009, Hawkins was CFO and Senior Vice President of Finance & IT at Logitech International SA.
From 2000 to 2006, Hawkins served as Vice President of Finance for Dell’s worldwide procurement and logistics organization, as well as Vice President of Finance for Dell’s U.S. Home Segment. Prior to Dell, Hawkins spent nearly 19 years at Hewlett-Packard where he held a variety of finance and business management roles, including a two-year posting in Europe.
Hawkins serves on the board of SecureWorks, a global leader in cyber security solutions, and Plex Systems, a leader in cloud based ERP for manufacturers. He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Colorado, a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University, and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
