Pay as you Go
The Pay as You Go plan keeps startup costs low by including Starter Kit Hardware for $0 (just pay shipping and taxes), and eliminating monthly POS software subscription fees. The payment processing fee covers all costs, meaning Toast only gets paid when you do. One flat rate applies for all credit card transactions, regardless of card type and entry method.
The standard plan offers a more traditional pricing model, and generally results in lower payment processing fees- though the rate varies based on card type, and whether the card is present or keyed-in. There is a one-time upfront payment for Starter Kit Hardware, and the POS software subscription is billed either monthly or annually.

Yes. The hardware you purchase is yours to keep regardless of your payment plan. The Toast Starter Kit is not leased or rented and is owned by the purchaser.
Yes. All Starter Kits include a router, which serves as a hub for all your Toast devices. This router must be connected to the modem provided by your high speed internet service provider. Mobile concepts like food trucks require a 4G cellular modem. For more info on setting up your network, click here.
Toast's offline mode allows you to continue to place orders, print tickets and receipts, and take credit card payments until the connection is reestablished and you're back online.
Customers who purchase with Pay-as-you-Go do not pay anything for their basic hardware, and do not pay a monthly fee for their basic POS software subscription. Instead, they are charged a 3.09% fee on every transaction they process.
Customers who purchase with the Standard Payment Plan pay a lower processing fee of 2.49%. They pay for their hardware outright at the time of purchase, and pay a monthly fee for their basic POS software.
Yes. Toast has a range of solutions that can be tailored to your needs. After your onboarding is complete, you will have access to purchase from the Toast Shop, which features cash drawers, printers, gift cards, payroll software, and much more.
To see if your establishment is ready to have Toast installed, please refer to the Site Readiness Checklist. After your purchase, you will need to complete your onboarding set-up by providing additional information, including your SSN, a bank account, and your Tax ID number.
Before completing checkout, you will be asked to choose between Self Service and Professional Remote Installation.
For Self Service, your Onboarding Consultant will provide instructions. For Professional Remote Install, you will schedule time with a technician, who will walk you through the installation process step by step over the phone or by video call.

Pay-as-you-Go return and inactivity policy.
If you do not process at least one payment within 4 months of purchasing your Pay-as-you-Go subscription, you understand that Toast will terminate your subscription and you will be required to ship all free hardware received through your Pay-as-you-Go subscription back to Toast. At the time of your account termination (whether by Toast or at your request) you will be given a 60-day grace period for sending your hardware back to Toast, shipping label will be provided if requested through your Toast onboarding consultant. If you do not return all applicable hardware or the shipment is incomplete, you will be subject to a cancellation fee based on the list retail price of the applicable hardware as follows: for Toast Flex, Toast provided router, and Toast Tap.
