You may have seen mocktail menus appearing at your favorite bars and restaurants recently. It’s not just a coincidence. Low ABV cocktails and alcohol-free drinking have become a full-blown dining trend over the past few years as diners look for healthier, but no less delicious, alternatives to drinking.

A 2023 survey found that interest in Dry January jumped by an enormous 259% year over year, driven in large part by Gen Z. In 2024, 75% of Gen Z adults aged 21-24 said they were at least “somewhat likely” to participate in Dry January. This is no surprise from a generation that is rapidly shifting away from drinking as a social activity.

Fortunately, entrepreneurs are paying attention. As more and more adults prioritize health and wellness over a few drinks, bars have gotten more creative with mocktails, and some new establishments have stopped serving alcohol entirely. That’s right, mocktail bars are officially a thing, and we’re highlighting the 25 best to visit around the country this year.

In this article, we’ll

  • Define what a mocktail bar really is.

  • Discuss the reasons why mocktail bars are trending and might be here to stay.

  • Explore the top 25 mocktail bars in the country right now.

What is a mocktail bar?

A mocktail is a non-alcoholic drink that’s made to look and taste just as flashy and delicious as a traditional cocktail. Mocktail bars, however, aren’t just bars that serve non-alcoholic options. Many traditional bars have plenty of non-alcoholic options. Mocktail bars are centered around zero-proof craft cocktails, with focused health and wellness missions that aim to offer community spaces for both non-drinkers and drinkers who are looking for something a little different.

Much like a mocktail itself, mocktail bars often look and feel like classic bars, lounges, and cafes, but the purpose behind them is entirely different. Sure, you’d still go to take the edge off, but you’re doing so with the express purpose of making healthier decisions for your body. You can get all the fun flavor of a cocktail bar while remaining sober.

Why are mocktail bars trending?

Dining establishments don’t sell food or drinks; they sell experiences. And the data shows that more adults want a drinking or dining experience that doesn’t include alcohol. Toast’s Health-Conscious Dining and Dry January Study made some compelling discoveries as to why mocktail bars are on the rise, such as:

  • 53% of survey respondents actively seek restaurants that offer healthier menu options, including 71% of respondents ages 20-29.

  • 74% of survey respondents find it at least “somewhat important” that restaurants offer healthier options.

  • 31% of respondents interested in Dry January participate because of the physical and mental health benefits.

  • 18% of respondents aged 20-29 and 19% of those aged 30-39 frequently choose mocktails or nonalcoholic beer and wine when dining out.

  • 34% of respondents aged 30-39 said they would visit a restaurant specifically for its mocktail or nonalcoholic beverage offerings.

Although mocktail statistics show a minority of respondents prefer mocktails, it’s still a remarkable percentage of adults who prefer non-alcoholic drinks to alcoholic ones. While everyone has their specific reasons, some of the most common include:

  • Sobriety: For their own reasons, some people are completely sober, and seeking out mocktail bars is a great way to get the nightlife experience of a bar without the pressure of getting a drink.

  • “Dry” months: The roots of “Dry January” date as far back as 1942, when Finland adopted sobriety for the month to help in the war against the Soviet Union. Today, many people use dry months as a sort of cleanse for their bodies.

  • Health concerns: Overconsuming alcohol can be unhealthy, and with the strength of health and wellness movements today, cutting out alcohol feels like a natural choice to many people.

Mocktail bars help address these concerns while offering social and inclusive nightlife experiences that appeal to all audiences.

The top 25 mocktail bars to visit in 2025

Northeast

1. Hekate Cafe and Elixir Bar - New York, NY

Known as New York’s first sober bar, Hekate was opened by Abby Ehmann, who also owns the bar Lucky across the street. It’s a community-focused neighborhood destination where customers can sip on fine tea, non-alcoholic beer, and a host of crafted specialty mocktails.

Standout beverages

  • Seedlip, Amethyst, and The Pathfinder bottled non-alcoholic drinks

  • A mocktail spritz with Lyre’s Italian Spritz and non-alcoholic Prosecco

What makes it special

Hekate has a great balance between coffee shop and bar, offering events like book readings, tarot card readings, and special occasions like Sober St. Patrick’s Day.

2. Listen Bar - New York, NY

You never know where you might find the Listen Bar. This sober bar pop-up is purely event-based, so you’ll have to monitor the website and social media for announcements for one of their bi-annual events. But when they do arrive, it’s a special thing, as they always feature some of the country’s best bartenders’ takes on mocktails.

Standout beverages

  • You’ll have to check out an event to see! But you can get a tutorial on creating your own mocktails with their online courses.

What makes it special

The mocktail menu is curated by some of New York’s greatest cocktail experts, including Pamela Wiznitzer, Jack McGarry, and Aaron Polsky.

3. No More Cafe - New York, NY

No More Cafe is a zero-proof mocktail bar is dedicated to providing high-class social experiences without alcohol. Chef Rodrigo Nogueira drew from his culinary expertise and own sobriety to open this space with the desire of serving delicious, complex non-alcoholic beverages and high-quality charcuterie and small plates.

Standout beverages

  • Four varietals of non-alcoholic wine

  • The Agave Phantom, a mezcal cocktail imitation worthy of tequila lovers

What makes it special

You won’t find a lot of mocktail bars with a small plates menu of this quality.

4. Kosmic Community Anti Bar - New York, NY

Kosmic is explicit that it’s not a mocktail bar, and transparent about its intention to be a safe space for absolutely everybody that’s free of alcohol. Their stated mission is to reclaim the feeling of connecting with yourself and others without the necessity of alcohol. As they say on their website, “Not many of us are comfortable doing that without alcohol, or even know how.” Whether you’re on a journey to sobriety or you just want to take a break from drinking, Kosmic wants to be the anti-bar of your dreams.

Standout beverages

  • The menu changes seasonally, so there’s always something fresh

  • But if you want coffee, check out the Chips Ahoy, which is espresso with melted chocolate chips

What makes it special

Kosmic offers an extremely comprehensive menu that encourages collaboration between you and your bartender. You can combine their many coffee drinks, juices, and flavors to craft a drink unique to you.

5. Clemente Bar & Studio - New York, NY

A cocktail bar that knows how to cater to its sober guests adequately is, in our estimation, worthy of recognition. Clemente Bar & Studio meets that call, with a non-alcoholic cocktail pairing for their tasting menu and a wide array of spirit-free options.

Standout beverages

  • Proxy Fizz - Seedlip Garden, cucumber, green apple, and Amazake

  • Picante - Zero-proof reposado, watermelon, wasabi, and Thai bird chile

What makes it special

It’s owned by the same team that runs fine dining establishment Eleven Madison Park, and located right above it, so if you’re looking for an upscale night out, consider stopping by both.

6. Hecate - Boston, MA

Hecate isn’t technically a mocktail bar, but it is one of the rare traditional bars that highlights its zero-proof menu just as much as its classic cocktail menu. The bar team puts just as much love and attention into the presentation and flavor profile of its mocktails as they do the cocktails.

Standout beverages

  • The Bolskine Manor, made with lapsang, Souchang, sea moss, bonito flake, pear syrup, orgeat, lemon, and aquafaba

What makes it special

Hecate is a high-end cocktail bar, and it’s fairly uncommon for a sophisticated drinking spot to give so much space to the zero-proof experience, making it an inclusive environment for both drinkers and non-drinkers.

7. Merai - Brookline, MA

The last bar on this list that technically isn’t a mocktail bar, Merai makes this list due to its unusual combination of a small plate Thai dining experience, craft cocktails, and a dedication to its zero-proof experience.

Standout beverages

  • The strawberry cheesecake mocktail

What makes it special

Merai bills itself as a Thai dive bar with a crafted cocktail and mocktail experience. That is a fascinating concept, and Merai knocks it out of the park.

Mid-Atlantic and Southeast

8. Binge Bar - Washington, DC

Inspired by Austin, TX’s Sans Bar (still to come on this list), Vergie “Gigi” Aranid opened Binge Bar as DC’s first alcohol-free bar in 2024. Set in D.C.’s artsy H Street Corridor, Binge Bar doubles as a Filipino bistro, serving up bites like lumpia and seitan adobo.

Standout beverages

  • Green Apple Mule substituting a gin alternative, plus muddled mint and green apple, lemon, green apple puree, and ginger beer

What makes it special

Mindful Mixology author Derek Brown calls Binge Bar one of his favorite spirit-free places to drink. Also, whenever a mocktail bar takes a big focus on food as well, we like it, especially when it’s mouth-watering Filipino food.

9. BANDBOX - Orlando, FL

Originally an Art Deco-inspired art gallery, owner Kevin Zepf decided he wanted to offer his guests non-alcoholic alternatives. Soon enough, the gallery evolved into a reservations-only, alcohol-free tasting room and bottle shop. It’s a connoisseur’s twist on the mocktail bar experience.

Standout beverages

  • Spicy Margarita made with Ritual Tequila

What makes it special

Well, we did say it started in an Art Deco-inspired art gallery, right? Between the artsy vibe and exclusivity of its reservations-only model, BANDBOX feels a little more upscale than the typical mocktail bar.

10. Wildcrafters - Jacksonville, FL

The first spirit-free bar in Jacksonville, Wildcrafters, now actually has two locations. Given the lively atmosphere and chic vibe, you’d have no idea that it’s not a traditional cocktail bar. Their mocktail menu includes twists on all kinds of traditional cocktails, from Manhattans to Clover Clubs.

Standout beverages

  • Manhattan made with Ritual whiskey

What makes it special

Live music and a long list of creative mixed drinks, including kava cocktails, make Wildcrafters a great nightlife spot despite the no alcohol policy.

11. The Sober Social - Atlanta, GA

Located in an office and event space in downtown Atlanta, The Sober Social is a coffee and dry bar built on the concept of inviting guests to socialize or work in a sober space. The bar’s social work club offers both day passes that include free Wi-Fi, an alcohol-free beverage, and early access, as well as a monthly membership.

Standout beverages

  • Socially Awkward - Pineapple, jalapeno, tequila alternative, Tajin

  • The Loner - Refreshing gine alternative, blueberries, fresh lemon

What makes it special

The day pass model is becoming a bit more popular in urban coffee shops, but The Sober Social might be the only place in the country applying this model to a mocktail bar. It’s an excellent place to take a break from the busy work day (or spend a busy work day) that offers a delightful menu of coffee and mocktails.

Midwest

12. Verbena Shoppe, Cafe, and Dry Bar - Cleveland - OH

At first glance, Verbena could just be a tea shop, and in fact, it is during the day. By day, Verbena offers tea, drinks, and lunch, but by night, it morphs into a swanky, intimate dry bar with drinks and appetizers. The inclusion of a bottle shop makes it a veritable hub for non-alcoholic enjoyment.

Standout beverages

  • Dirty Chai Martini - Seedlip Spice 94, chai masala tea, spiced coffee syrup, sweetened condensed milk (0.0% abv / contains caffeine)

  • The Moon - Dr. ZeroZero AmarNo, butterfly pea tea, hibiscus syrup, lime juice, seltzer (0.0% abv)

What makes it special

Verbena’s multifaceted model that includes a tea shop, sit-down restaurant, bar area, and bottle shop allows it to accommodate a wide range of tastes and desires.

13. The Other Side - Crystal Lake, IL

It seems to be a common trend throughout America: The Other Side transformed a warehouse into a dining space. In fact, it’s Illinois’ first sober bar. Founder and recovering addict Chris Reed originally leased the space for his construction company, but when he and his friends started meeting there after their 12-step meetings, they started calling it The Other Side. Eventually, Reed decided the place worked better as a spacious, rustic dry bar.

Standout beverages

  • Raspberry Paloma - Raspberry, Grapefruit, Lime

  • Winter Spritzer - Cranberry Juice, Pineapple, Ginger Ale

What makes it special

The profound, personal story of Reed merging multiple parts of his life to create a sober safe space for the community is a special one, and The Other Side has become a haven for recovery meetings as well as a hub for delicious coffee drinks and mocktails.

14. Inmoxicated - Racine, WI

Founder Shannon Goodman doesn’t drink, but she still likes a good bar. As such, she created Inmoxicated, an 18+ dry bar and bottle shop in downtown Racine. The bar operates very similarly to traditional ones, with karaoke nights, game nights, and monthly “soberversary” parties, all in an effort to normalize elective sobriety.

Standout beverages

  • Non-alcoholic Wisconsin Old Fashioned

  • A great selection of non-alcoholic beer and wine

What makes it special

Beyond the dedication to being a lively community space, Inmoxicated’s bottle shop is considered the region’s best for alcohol-free beverages.

15. Dry Spokes - Omaha, NE

Another dry bar that was inspired by Sans Bar (we’re getting there, promise), Dry Spokes is one of the nation’s most well-known dry bars today. Founder Mi-Ya Mata was inspired by a COVID-era NPR interview about Sans Bar that led her to start experimenting with alcohol-free spirits. The shop opened as simply a spirit-free bottle shop before Mata and her wife and cofounder, Leah, realized most people wouldn’t know how to mix alternative spirits. So, Dry Spokes evolved into a bar and event space.

Standout beverages

  • Coconut Cherry Kiss - Coconut syrup, cherry bitters, ginger beer

  • Dreamsicle: Seedlip Notas de Agave, Seedlip Grove, whipping cream (not whipped cream), orange soda, and ATB orange bitters

What makes it special

It’s one of the nation’s oldest dry bars (frankly, this doesn’t mean it’s too old, however) and is operated by true pioneers in alternative spirits. Plus, it’s just really cute.

16. In Good Spirits - Chicago, IL

Founded in July 2023 by Adriana Gaspar and Hector Diaz, In Good Spirits is a continuation of Gaspar’s late father’s legacy as a force in the Chicago sober community. The bar and bottle shop is made as a safe haven for the sober and an enticing option for the sober-curious. They offer a range of non-alcoholic options in their bottle shop, and host workshops and events regularly.

Standout beverages

  • It depends on the event! In Good Spirits curates mocktails specifically for different partners and events.

What makes it special

The mission behind In Good Spirits is all about normalizing sobriety and helping people overcome demons through health-conscious means. That’s something we can all get behind.

Southwest

17. Sans Bar - Austin, TX

We made it! Chris Marshall, a former addiction counselor, opened one of the country’s first sober bars in 2017 to give people in recovery a greater sense of community. Sans Bar has been a direct inspiration for several other spots on this list and now has locations in Portland, New York City, and Los Angeles. It could soon become the first franchised dry bar.

Standout beverages

  • Smoked Sangarita - Ritual Tequila, porch spiced pinarita, Saline

  • Gold Fashioned - Ritual Whiskey, Demeraram cherry, ATB orange bitters

What makes it special

Beyond being a major inspiration in the mocktail bar movement, one of the coolest things Sans Bar does is an all-you-can-drink concept that allows you to drink as much as you want from the mocktail menu for just $25.

18. The Nixer  - Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix and Mesa are two Arizona cities that are at the forefront of the booming zero-proof scene. The Nixer is a popular pop-up that serves up zero-proof, CBD, and THC mocktails at locations all over the city. The ownership group is working towards building a brick-and-mortar location soon.

Standout beverages

  • Sweet Heat - Livener elixir by Three Spirit, strawberry, and ginger

What makes it special

Beyond zero-proof spirits and mocktails, The Nixer also serves CBD and THC cocktails, giving it more of a “hemp-derived” menu than many other mocktail bars. It’s California sober-friendly.

19. Alchemy 48 at Level 1 Arcade Bar - Mesa, AZ

We just mentioned Mesa so we couldn’t fail to mention Alchemy 48, a ‘20s-style speakeasy that offers a great selection of mocktails. It’s prohibition-themed, so it’s ironically very on brand that the zero-proof options are such a focus. The bar lists these options on their menu under “Non-alcoholic Sophistication,” which is a nice touch.

Standout beverages

  • Elixir Salutari, Nostrum Congenialis - Berry, ginger, carrot shrubs

What makes it special

The theme! Prohibition-style speakeasies aren’t exactly unheard of, but it’s a lot of fun to enjoy a mocktail while pretending you’re hiding from the authorities.

20. Honey Elixir Bar - Denver, CO

Denver is both a great bar town and has a vibrant wellness-focused community, so it’s no surprise that it has many dry bar options. Honey Elixir is an apothecary-inspired cocktail bar with three sections of its extensive menu dedicated to non-alcoholic beverages. The Potions menu, for instance, features “intentionally crafted elixirs to elicit a thought, feeling, or idea.”

Standout beverages

  • Persephone’s Blessing - Pomegranate, giffard non-alcoholic elderflower, raspberry leaf, shatavari, schisandra berries, rose, butterfly pea flower, lemon, rose quartz crystals, lily and  yellow lotus flowers

  • The Dream Machine - Fresh orange, vanilla bean, clover honey, Topo Chico, and your choice of coconut cream or half & half

What makes it special

It feels like a party, which isn’t always the case at dry bars, thanks in large part to a great events calendar and frequent live music.

West Coast

21. Wilderton Tasting Room - Hood River, OR

Just a block from the confluence of the Columbia and Hood Rivers, this non-alcoholic distillery opened in 2023 and has rapidly grown to offer a non-alcoholic tasting room that’s a Pacific Northwest destination for the sober and drinkers alike.

Standout beverages

  • The flagship Apertivo, used in a wide range of both non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktails.

What makes it special

It’s a beautiful space, but what’s really nice about Wilderton is that they’re expressly “alcohol optional,” meaning that while their drinks are non-alcoholic, if your buddy wants to add a little booze to theirs, they’ll do that for him.

22. Bar Nuda - Venice, CA

Bar Nuda is a pop-up circulating around the beach cities of Los Angeles County, becoming a staple in the bohemian scene of vintage shops, art studios, and even the Santa Monica Pier. They’re working on a brick-and-mortar location, but for now, they’re focused on making spaces across the city more accessible and safe for those in recovery and who don’t want to drink.

Standout beverages

  • Serenit Now!, a mocktail combining Drømme Calm, azahár, cold-brew barley tea, and coconut milk

What makes it special

Bar Nuda is co-founded by Bryant J. Orozco, formerly of Madre Oaxacan Restaurants, so you know the drinks are meticulously crafted.

23. Mnemonic Coffee - San Diego, CA

San Diego has a tremendous brewery and bar scene, but there are sober options out there, even if they’re a bit few and far between. Mnemonic Coffee is one of the best options thanks to its cozy coffee shop vibe. Yes, it’s a coffee shop first, but Mnemonic offers a great zero-proof cocktail menu if you’re in the mood to mix it up.

Standout beverages

  • Pony Boy - Saffron syrup, grapefruit, Topo Chico

  • Soy Libre - Coca-Cola, maple syrup, soy sauce, lime juice, cinnamon

What makes it special

While many dry bars offer coffee, Mnemonic offers a great range of delicious coffee drinks that make it just as exciting as a coffee shop as it is a dry bar.

24. Ocean Beach Cafe - San Francisco, CA

You knew San Francisco would appear on this list, and actually, this is the first of two options in the Bay. Located just steps from San Francisco’s Ocean Beach, this café claims to be one of the world’s first non-alcoholic bars. Of course, you’ll find plenty of great food options and craft coffee, as well, but if you’re looking to catch more of a vibe, the free spirit elixir cocktails and selection of non-alcoholic wine should be right up your alley.

Standout beverages

  • Spirit Animal - FSE, Three Spirit Livener, Brut, Roots Divino, lime

  • Needle In the Groove - Tenneyson Black Ginger, Monday Whiskey, Three Spirits Social Elixir, lime, ginger beer

What makes it special

A daily happy hour from 3-6pm is a great time to sample some of the non-alcoholic wines and free spirit elixir cocktails. Oh, and kava cocktails — that’s a mocktail variety you don’t see every day.

25. ABV Bar - San Francisco, CA

Finally, ABV Bar is not technically a dry bar, but it does have one of the biggest selections of non-alcoholic drinks in the Bay Area, earning recognition from San Francisco Magazine as one of the best places to go in Dry January. It’s a great place to go with a mixed crowd of sober and drinkers.

Standout beverages

  • Green Dream - tarragon syrup, saline, ginger, lemon juice, and Fever-Tree lemon tonic

What makes it special

As a traditional bar that genuinely focuses on its non-alcoholic offers, ABV Bar truly serves up something for everyone.

Shakin’ up mocktails

Considering the increased sobriety rates of Gen Z and the growing strength of health and wellness movements, it’s no surprise that mocktail bars have been on the rise. And there’s reason to believe that they’re far more than just a trend; these bars may very well be pioneers in a new revolution in dining culture. Only time will tell on that front, but for now, you can enjoy a sober night out at any of these top mocktail bars around the country.
