BOSTON – Toast, Inc. was announced as a nominee for Hottest Startup: A+ at the 2016 NEVY Awards, hosted by the New England Venture Capital Association (NEVCA) and Johnson & Johnson Innovation to celebrate New England’s biggest winners across the Life Science and Tech communities. The Hottest Startup: A+ award goes to companies that are "setting the world on fire." These companies must be in the A, B, or C stage and must have received funding between February 2014 and now.
"It has been an amazing year for New England, and we're psyched to recognize these organizations and individuals who are so much a part of what makes this place so great," said Jody Rose, Executive Director of the NEVCA. "In its fourth year, the NEVYs continue to shine a spotlight on the vibrant Tech and Life Science ecosystems here, and we're thrilled to be celebrate this impressive group with the community."
"We are honored to be nominated for Hottest Startup of the Year by the New England Venture Capital Association," said Chris Comparato, CEO of Toast. "As a company, it's humbling to see that our mission - to enable a world where restaurants of all sizes deliver the best customer experience by leveraging innovative technology - is having a profound impact on restaurants in New England and across the U.S. 2015 was a tremendous year for Toast and we are continuing to invest in our team, our customers and the restaurant landscape to enable an era where technology can really enable businesses."
Toast, Inc. is a restaurant point of sale system and restaurant management system all in one. In January, Toast closed $30 million in Series B funding from Bessemer Venture Partners and GV (formerly Google Ventures) to further accelerate the company's impressive growth and success. With online ordering, gift cards, loyalty programs, inventory, and advanced cloud-based reporting, Toast is becoming the go-to system for quick service and full service restaurants alike.
“Restaurant technology should add efficiency and take away obstacles, so that restaurant operators can do what is best for the guests. We went with Toast because we could see them as a partner, not just a vendor. They’re just as focused on an exceptional customer experience as we are," said Ben Kaplan, Director of Operations at Barbara Lynch Gruppo in Boston.
This year’s nominees for the NEVY awards were selected by an academy of judges composed of last year’s winners, experts in the technology and life science industries and Boston’s industry influencers, and experts who have made a major impact on the city’s entrepreneurial and venture capital landscape.
The 2016 NEVY Award winners will be announced at Boston’s House of Blues on Wednesday, May 18.
