Jesse Lopez is a restaurant veteran with more than 35 years of industry experience. A native of Texas, Jesse identified a need for an upscale Mexican restaurant in San Antonio and was equipped with the culinary skills to make it happen.
Just one week before opening, Jesse and the Daddy O’s team were prepared to rough it with just a basic cash register rather than pay for a traditional point-of-sale system. They learned about Toast just in time.

Jesse doesn’t have to worry about his servers’ legible handwriting because Toast fires tickets – complete with modifiers and special requests – to the kitchen directly from the tablet interface. With a mostly Spanish-speaking staff, Jesse has also found the ability to print tickets in other languages extremely valuable.

When it comes to ordering and payment, customization and ease-of-use are crucial for Daddy O’s business. With Jesse at the helm, the menu is constantly changing. Toast’s Quick Edit Mode and 86 Countdown gives manager Melissa Hernandez control over what’s available on the menu in real-time.

Any server will tell you that check management can be one of the biggest headaches of the job. With Toast, Daddy O’s staff can easily split and combine checks by number of guests, seat number, or individual menu item.
"We get quite a few large parties here and at the end of the meal they will announce wanting split checks. With Toast, that’s no problem. Sometimes a customer will offer to pay for a police officer or fireman’s bill. Our servers can easily accommodate that request by combining tabs in Toast.” - Melissa
